Atlantic Freeholders guarantee $60 million in Gateway Bonds
Up to $145 million in Atlantic County Improvement Authority bonding can now move forward for the new Stockton University campus at the Gateway Project in Atlantic City, after the county freeholders voted Tuesday to guarantee the payment of up to $60 million.
The freeholder meeting room was packed with both supporters and opponents of the county guarantee. Supporters were largely resort residents anticipating a renewal of the Chelsea neighborhood where the project will be located, or union laborers and officials looking forward to the jobs the project will provide.
